Dysport and Botox are both botulinum toxin type A products used for similar purposes, such as reducing wrinkles or treating certain medical conditions. However, their units are not directly interchangeable because they are formulated and measured differently.

The commonly accepted conversion ratio is approximately: 1 unit of Botox ≈ 3 units of Dysport

2. The efficacy and spread of Dysport and Botox can differ, so the dosing strategy might be adjusted based on the individual patient’s needs.

Here at Rejuvenate Austin, we try to make things as easy and transparent for the patient as possible and that requires education. In this short blog post, I am going to explain why we convert Dysport units to Botox units to make your dosing and final bill easier to understand.

Let me start by introducing myself for my new blog readers. I am Dr. Jessica Wright and I am board certified in General Surgery. I have been practicing in Aesthetic Medicine and Anti-Aging for over a decade. I completed a Fellowship in Anti-Aging in 2021. Dysport, as you can see above, is measured so differently from Botox and can cause confusion around dosing and the final price of your service. Well, take a deep breath and rest assured that I made it super easy! A vial of Dysport is delivered at 300 units. A vial of Botox is 100 units. You can mix them exactly the same and inject them both as 100 Botox units. We will call Botox Units “BU” moving forward. Now remember that Dysport equation above: 1 unit of Botox ≈ 3 units of Dysport

So the 300 unit vial of Dysport is equivalent to the 100 unit vial of Botox. Now let’s just inject them both as a “BU”. Too many aesthetic practices are telling patients Dysport is $4/unit and Botox is $14/unit, but you need 3 times the Dysport. How confusing!! Instead of quoting you 60 units of Dysport, we will quote you 20 units of Dysport or Botox. They are both $14/BU. Make sense?

This allows the provider to use Morpheus for body sculpting. Why didn’t we go with this option?? Well, at these depths it is painful without a nerve block. Coolsculpting is way more effective for body sculpting and more comfortable by leaps and bounds. Coolsculpting does not require anesthetic and can treat large areas.

It is King in Bodysculpting and we are one of Austin’s top providers. If I sound enthusiastic about it, I am!! My whole philosophy about aesthetics revolves around getting you great results with a low risk profile. Using Morpheus for body sculpting would not make sense for my practice since we are Coolsculpting Masters. Now that makes that 4mm depth kind of useless for us.

Morpheus 8 is also versatile for both facial and body treatments. It treats all the areas listed above, but goes a tad deeper. We prefer to have a visual component when treating deeper on the face, so we use Ulthera at 4mm.

Downtime is minimal, with most patients experiencing mild redness and swelling for a day or two, allowing them to return to normal activities quickly.

Morpheus 8:
Morpheus 8 treatments can be slightly more uncomfortable due to the deeper penetration of the needles. However, this discomfort is managed with topical anesthesia, and in some cases, nerve blocks may be used for more extensive treatments. Downtime varies depending on the intensity of the treatment but is typically slightly longer than Secret RF, with redness and swelling lasting up to a week.

Secret RF:
